McCormick Wins Champion for Place Award

Awards

City of Lancaster issued the following announcement on July 22.

Cindy McCormick, Deputy Director of Public Works, was recently recognized by the Lancaster County Planning Commission at its places2040 Planning Leadership Awards Celebration. She received the Champion for Place award for her role in street improvements that prioritize equity and safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists.

Safe Streets is a strategic priority for the City of Lancaster, with Cindy at the forefront of the Vision Zero initiative which aims to achieve zero traffic deaths and serious injuries by 2030. Despite leading this effort, Cindy acknowledged the teamwork that pushes the City forward.

“It’s very humbling to be recognized, but I also want to make sure that I’m recognizing the team of people that I work with at the city. It’s not one person that makes these types of projects happen,” Cindy told LNP.

Cindy was among three individuals and seven projects to be honored at the awards celebration for contributing to the implementation of places2040, Lancaster County’s current comprehensive plan.
