Senate Republicans have re-elected their leadership team to serve in the 2025-26 legislative session. The announcement was made today in Harrisburg, confirming that Sen. Kim Ward (R-39) will continue as interim Senate President Pro Tempore from December 1 until January 6. On January 7, the Senate will vote for a President Pro Tempore for the upcoming two-year session.

The role of President Pro Tempore involves appointing chairpersons and members of the Senate's 22 standing committees and serving as an ex-officio member of all committees. The officeholder presides over the Senate floor when the Lieutenant Governor is unavailable and steps in if the position becomes vacant. Bills and resolutions are also referred to appropriate committees by this office.

"First and foremost, I wish to express appreciation to my Senate colleagues for re-electing me as interim President Pro Tempore," stated Ward. She emphasized the importance of working together to address challenges such as economic growth, job creation, safeguarding constitutional rights, and addressing rising costs.

Sen. Joe Pittman (R-41) was re-elected as Senate Majority Leader. His responsibilities include overseeing the legislative agenda, developing policies for the Republican caucus, engaging in floor debates, negotiating with other branches of government, and coordinating actions on the Senate floor.

"I am honored to have been re-elected by my colleagues," Pittman said. He highlighted past efforts to empower Pennsylvanians and ensure financial stability while looking forward to continuing a pro-growth agenda.

Sen. Ryan Aument (R-36) retained his position as Majority Whip, tasked with assisting floor leadership and ensuring support for legislation within the majority caucus.

"Pennsylvanians sent a strong message from the ballot box on Nov. 5," Aument remarked about maintaining a Republican majority in the state senate.

Sen. Scott Martin (R-13) will continue leading the Senate Appropriations Committee which evaluates fiscal impacts of legislation and develops state budgets through public hearings with department leaders.

"For years, Senate Republicans have fought to protect taxpayers," Martin stated about passing responsible budgets while facing future challenges.

Sen. Kristin Phillips-Hill (R-28), re-elected as Majority Caucus Chair, focuses on transparency and accountability within Republican caucus meetings aimed at strategy development.

"I am honored by the trust my colleagues have placed in me," Phillips-Hill expressed regarding her continued role.

Lastly, Sen. Camera Bartolotta (R-46) remains Majority Caucus Secretary overseeing executive nominations submitted for confirmation by reviewing nominees' backgrounds thoroughly before submission.

"It has been my honor to have been selected by my colleagues," Bartolotta commented on her continued participation in advancing collective goals alongside holding administrative accountability.
