PA Sen. Ryan Aument has announced his acceptance of the role of state director for U.S. Sen.-Elect Dave McCormick, a move that will see him resign from his position as Pennsylvania State Senator for the 36th senatorial district before January 3, 2025. His offices and staff will continue to serve constituents during this transition period.
“I am humbled and honored that Sen.-Elect McCormick has trusted me to lead his statewide operation here in Pennsylvania,” Aument stated. He expressed enthusiasm about working with McCormick, highlighting McCormick's vision and leadership qualities.
Aument also reflected on his time serving Lancaster County in the Pennsylvania General Assembly over the past 13 years, assuring residents of continued service until a new senator is appointed. “My staff remains willing and able to assist constituents with state-related matters throughout the special election cycle,” he added.
Following Aument's resignation, the lieutenant governor will have ten days to set a date for a special election to fill his seat. Services such as assistance with PennDOT paperwork and tax forms will remain uninterrupted.
“This is an extraordinarily consequential time in our country," said Aument, emphasizing the need for strong leadership like that of McCormick at the national level. He conveyed pride in his accomplishments with colleagues in the Pennsylvania Republican Caucus and looks forward to continuing this work with McCormick.
