In a recent announcement, Rep. Dave Zimmerman (R-Lancaster) revealed that funding will be provided for local fire and emergency response organizations through the Fire and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program. Zimmerman emphasized the importance of these agencies, stating, "Our fire and EMS companies are vital to our communities and the people who live and work in them. Most of these companies are volunteer, and they do a lot with the little they have. Because of this, I know these grants are greatly needed and much appreciated."

The funding will be distributed to several organizations, including the Adamstown Fire Co Station 11, Caernarvon Fire Company, Denver Fire Company No. 1, Garden Spot Fire Rescue, Reamstown Fire Company, No. 1, Reinholds Community Ambulance Association, Reinholds Fire Company, Schoeneck Fire Company, Smokestown Fire Company No. 1, Stevens Fire Company, Weaverland Valley Fire Department Station 30, White Horse Fire Company EMS, and White Horse Fire Company. The amounts awarded range from $10,000 to $29,951 for various projects such as facility construction or renovation, equipment purchase or repair, training, or debt reduction.

These grants are made possible through an ongoing grant program established by the Legislature and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). It is important to note that the funding is derived from the proceeds of slot machine gaming, rather than General Fund tax revenue.

The recipients of the grants must meet the requirements outlined by the OSFC and file a grant agreement to receive their funding. This ensures that the funds are allocated to deserving organizations that will utilize them to enhance their capabilities and better serve their communities.

With this funding, the local fire and EMS companies will be able to improve their infrastructure, acquire necessary equipment, provide training opportunities for their personnel, and reduce existing debt. This will enable them to enhance their emergency response capabilities and ensure the safety and well-being of the residents they serve.

This recent funding announcement highlights the commitment of Rep. Dave Zimmerman and the Pennsylvania Legislature to supporting and strengthening the fire and emergency response agencies in the state. By providing financial assistance to these organizations, they are acknowledging the invaluable services they provide and the sacrifices made by their dedicated volunteers.

The grants will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the local communities, as they will contribute to the overall safety and preparedness of the region. As Rep. Zimmerman aptly stated, "Our fire and EMS companies are vital to our communities." With this funding, these organizations will be better equipped to fulfill their crucial role in protecting and serving the public.
