LANCASTER - Fire companies and emergency medical service providers in the 41st Legislative District have been awarded nearly $190,000 in funding. This financial support comes from the Office of the State Fire Commissioner’s Fire Company and Emergency Medical Service Grant Program, as announced by Rep. Brett Miller (R-East Hempfield).
“The funding will help these vital emergency service providers continue to answer calls for help in our community,” Miller stated. He expressed gratitude towards the first responders, saying, “I cannot thank the first responders enough for what they do for our neighbors. Their work never goes unnoticed.”
The grant recipients include several departments within the district:
- Blue Rock Fire Rescue received $52,106.
- Columbia Borough Fire Department was granted $28,322.
- East Petersburg Fire Company No. 1 obtained $16,322.
- Haz Mat II Environmental Fire Rescue Co. Inc. was allocated $13,524.
- Hempfield Fire Company secured $15,246.
- Lancaster EMS Association received $15,000.
- Mountville Fire Company got $16,106.
- Rohrerstown Community Fire Company was awarded $15,000.
- West Hempfield Fire & Rescue Co. obtained $14,385.
The grants are intended to support emergency services through improvements in facilities and equipment, debt reduction efforts, as well as training and education initiatives.
Miller also encouraged community members to consider volunteering at their local fire departments: “Our local fire departments are always looking for more volunteers - in lots of different capacities.
