All fire companies and emergency medical service providers in the 41st Legislative District have been awarded nearly $190,000 in funding. This financial support comes from the Office of the State Fire Commissioner’s Fire Company and Emergency Medical Service Grant Program, as announced by Representative Brett Miller.

"The funding will help these vital emergency service providers continue to answer calls for help in our community," said Miller. "I cannot thank the first responders enough for what they do for our neighbors. Their work never goes unnoticed."

The departments benefiting from this grant include Blue Rock Fire Rescue with $52,106, Columbia Borough Fire Department receiving $28,322, and East Petersburg Fire Company No. 1 granted $16,322. Other recipients are Haz Mat II Environmental Fire Rescue Co. Inc., Hempfield Fire Company, Lancaster EMS Association, Mountville Fire Company, Rohrerstown Community Fire Company, and West Hempfield Fire & Rescue Co.

The grant is intended to support emergency services by covering expenses related to facilities, equipment, debt reduction, training, and education.

Miller also encouraged residents to volunteer at local fire departments. "Our local fire departments are always looking for more volunteers - in lots of different capacities. I encourage you to contact your local fire department to learn of the many different ways they need help," he stated.
