FOIA Request to Lancaster County Election Department Regarding Information on Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
In our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at North Lancaster News have submitted a request for records under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law. Our request specifically seeks information about all candidates running in the upcoming election.
The requested details include the first, middle, and last names of each candidate. We also asked for the office they are running for and its jurisdiction, as well as their party affiliation. In addition to these basic details, we have also requested contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. We believe that given our role in disseminating information, we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
We will continue our efforts in ensuring that the public remains informed about important matters such as this upcoming election. We await a response from the Lancaster County Election Department regarding our request.
