State Representative David H. Zimmerman | Pennsylvania 99th Legislative District
Rep. Dave Zimmerman of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, has expressed his concerns following the verdict in the trial of former President Donald J. Trump. In a statement, Zimmerman voiced his apprehension about the current state of the nation.
Zimmerman stated, "We are a nation in decline. We have hit a new low. Never before in American history has a president weaponized the government to attack and convict his rival for political purposes." He compared this situation to actions seen in "tyrannical dictatorships" and warned that America is at risk of losing its identity.
He further criticized President Biden's approach to handling political disputes, saying, "America’s political rivals have always settled their disputes at the ballot box, until now. President Biden has chosen the strategy of communist and socialist dictators."
Despite these concerns, Zimmerman remains hopeful about the future: "Nevertheless, I have faith that the American people will not stand for this threat to democracy and grievous abuse of power."
Zimmerman's statement was released by Tricia Lehman from his office at the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
