Rep. Dave Zimmerman of Lancaster has issued a statement addressing the recent anti-Semitic protests occurring on college campuses nationwide. In his message, Zimmerman expressed concern over what he describes as "woke ideologies" infiltrating higher education institutions.
Zimmerman referenced an article he wrote months prior, criticizing political attacks on Pennsylvania's founder William Penn and the ideologies prevalent in elite colleges. He stated that these institutions are "filled with tenured professors making hundreds of thousands of dollars whose goal in life is to tear down American society and culture."
He attributed the current strife and division on campuses to these ideologies, now intensified by anti-Semitism. Zimmerman criticized President Joe Biden, Governor Josh Shapiro, university presidents, and some Democrat members of Congress for their perceived lack of leadership and moral clarity on this issue.
Zimmerman called for unity around traditional American values such as faith, patriotism, and family. He emphasized the importance of returning to principles encapsulated by the national motto "E pluribus unum," which means "out of many, one." He urged for a defeat of the divisive ideologies taught in colleges to foster unity.
