HARRISBURG – Rep. Dave Zimmerman (R-Lancaster) issued a statement following the verdict in the trial of former President Donald J. Trump.
“We are a nation in decline. We have hit a new low. Never before in American history has a president weaponized the government to attack and convict his rival for political purposes. This only happens in tyrannical dictatorships. We are in unprecedented times and America as we know it is in danger of being lost.
“America’s political rivals have always settled their disputes at the ballot box, until now. President Biden has chosen the strategy of communist and socialist dictators.
“Biden’s lawfare and the Trump verdict is a tragic commentary on the state of our nation.
“Nevertheless, I have faith that the American people will not stand for this threat to democracy and grievous abuse of power."
