City of Lancaster issued the following announcement on Apr. 21.
Mayor Danene Sorace has named Todd Hutchinson as the permanent, new Fire Chief of the Lancaster City Bureau of Fire. After serving as the Interim Chief since January and pending City Council approval, Chief Hutchinson will take the helm of the Bureau of Fire beginning May 2.
“Chief Hutchinson has long served the City of Lancaster and as Interim Chief has demonstrated a clear commitment to excellence in fire response and public safety. This commitment along with his 25 years of experience in emergency services in Lancaster County make him an exceptional candidate,” says Mayor Danene Sorace.
Throughout his career, Chief Hutchinson has served as a company officer, chief fire officer, incident commander, and hazardous materials team leader. He has also served in a variety of fire and emergency services positions including operations and administrative management. Prior to his appointment as Interim Chief, he was responsible for all day-to-day operations of A Platoon as the shift commander.
“I am excited to lead such a talented and diverse group of individuals. The men and women of the Fire Bureau provide a vital service to the people of Lancaster City. As the Interim Fire Chief, I have been developing a strategic plan with purpose that will focus on meeting the needs of the community as well as of our personnel. City Council will vote on the appointment of Chief Todd Hutchinson on April 26.
