Borough of Denver recently issued the following announcement.

We Are Hiring!

The Borough of Denver is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Laborer III employee in the Department of Public Works. This is a top-level laborer position in the Department of Public Works under the supervision of the Director of Public Works.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing street construction and maintenance activities; snow plowing and removal; operating heavy equipment including a backhoe, dump truck, and compressor; operating, maintaining, and repairing the Borough’s public water collection, treatment, and distribution system; monitoring and repairing storm and sanitary sewer equipment and facilities; and other duties as directed.

Applicants shall possess a high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma plus a minimum of three (3) years’ experience performing general laboring activities. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

Applicants also shall possess a valid Pennsylvania motor vehicle driver’s license and a commercial driver’s license (CDL) and must possess a valid Class C water plant operator’s permit from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) or must be eligible to take the registration exam and obtain the Class C certification within 24 months of employment. Previous experience in municipal street, water, and sewer work is a plus.
