Borough of Ephrata issued the following announcement on Mar. 2.
Dear Preschool parents and guardians,
We have been watching the Covid numbers very carefully here in Lancaster County as well as the guidance by the CDC and PA Department of Health. Fortunately, our trend seems to be going in a very positive direction as it pertains to Covid cases.
Beginning April 1, we will make masking optional for our preschoolers and staff, provided that there is no spike in Covid cases and Lancaster remains in the low Covid-19 Community Level. In the event of a spike, we may return to masking until the numbers again decline.
Thank you for being patient as we navigated this pandemic, especially with our youngest children. Please be aware that we always have the health and safety in mind for our preschool children and adults. These decisions are not easy and we monitor daily the situation.
We are asking parents to keep children home for at least 24 hours if they have had a fever, were not feeling well or have had vomiting or diarrhea.
Let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Heather Cramer, Preschool Director, Sister Dr. Dottie Almoney, Director of Outreach and Education
