A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the West Hempfield Township Police Pension Plan on September 20, 2024. The request was made by North Lancaster News, a media organization committed to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The FOIA request specifically asked for the list of all active and retired employees in the organization's pension fund for the year of 2023. The data fields requested include last name, first name, middle name, date of birth, employer name, employment start date, employment end date, salary, compensation type, amount, year, process date, last disbursement amount, disbursement frequency and the contribution amount for 2023.
At North Lancaster News we believe that access to public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information to the public as a media organization we have requested a fee waiver for this information under Pennsylvania's Right to Know Law.
We await a response from the West Hempfield Township Police Pension Plan regarding this request.
